Bones of My Brother Stage Play

Bones Of My Brother

Bones of My Brother is a stage play that surrounds the lives of three brothers, David, Otis, and Eugene. David, the oldest of the three, is a businessman who will soon be marring his fiancée,  Carrie. Otis is the cocky but jokester middle brother living with Otis until he moves into his new place. Eugene is the youngest brother who found himself behind bars for a few years for abusing his ex-girlfriend when he was just 18. Eugene unexpectedly shows up at David’s door, ready for a new start – one that Otis isn’t quite ready to give. When David agrees to Eugene staying with them, both Otis and Carrie refuse to let Eugene’s past go. However, Eugene isn’t the only one stacking skeletons in his closet. As the story unfolds, secrets and lies begin to unravel, as you can’t spell “families” without “lies.” Bones of My Brother is a play that is packed with drama, humor, betrayal, and secrets that will take you on a roller-coaster full of emotions. While this play will make you laugh and cry in the same sitting, Bones Of My Brother is not without a powerful message – or a few.

My Sister’s Body Stage Play

My Sister’s Body

My Sister’s Body is a story that follows the lives of five sisters and one brother in which Halle, the second oldest, tries to keep the house in order after their mother falls ill. She is the pious individual of the bunch and tends to take on the “mother role.” As secrets unfold, Halle tries to deliver the moral concepts of “respect your body” amongst her sisters.

What makes the story so unique is the characters themselves, each one varying from the next. Vanessa is the oldest “bougie” sister who moved out of the inner city to a more luxurious place in California with her boyfriend. You can expect to laugh at her ways as she flaunts around the scenes. Tori is the sister you’ll just love to hate! She’s the nerve-racking buzz in her siblings’ ear and the life of the party. Brandy is the typical college student who often comes home to a house of chaos. While Brandy learns to cope with home issues, she battles personal problems and the stress that comes with the school territory. Paul is the only brother in a house full of woman, a situation made funny within itself. He’s the no-good-lazy brother who just won’t get up from the couch. Though Paul is far from the man of the house, he doesn’t want anyone getting over on his sisters. And lastly, there is Nicole, the baby sister with a lot of attitude. Nicole is the only sibling with a different father from the rest. Feeling that the world is against her, Nicole is a troubled teen looking for acceptance outside of her home.

The siblings alone have enough drama, but the story isn’t complete without a host of crazy neighbors and additional characters. Take Uncle Skeeter for instance. He’s an old “war-head” who says all of his sentences forwards and backwards and stays on Paul’s case about getting a job. Uncle Skeeter checks in on the siblings often while his sister Gloria (their mother) is sick. He’s just one of many humorous characters roaming around in this sitcom. While we all love to laugh, we made it a mission to tackle serious issues that many are often afraid to talk about. In the play, you may possibly find yourself identifying with one or two of the sisters. While FTLOMS may be more geared towards woman and their everyday issues, men will also have a place to empathize with some of the characters. This is not just an African American tale, but an American one.

My Sister’s Body was also turned into a web show called “For the Love Of My Sistas,” also known as “FTLOMS.” Can be found on the Eli Lu Productions youtube page.
